                                         diabetic Alert dogs

All Purpose Canines is proud of its many accomplishments. One of those is the Diabetic Alert Training Program developed by our staff. This technique has proven that some dogs can indeed be trained and used very effectively to reduce the possibility of severe low blood sugar reaction. A strong team concept is essential to the success of any service dog partnership.  This approach is even more critical when the service dog is TRAINED to alert to low or high blood sugar levels.  Parents, family members, health care professionals and educators all have important roles to help ensure the  team's success. Everyone involved will know how the dog will react and what they are to do during the alerting process.

ALL PURPOSE CANINES IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE ARE ONCE AGAIN ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR DIABETIC ALERT DOGS. USING NEWLY DEVELOPED TRAINING PROCEDURES, WE HAVE DRAMATICALLY REDUCED OUR WAITING LIST.

Our priority has always been and will continue to be the placement  of highly trained  Diabetic Alert Dogs.  Every dog is trained as if it were going to be placed with one of our family members.

"Boomer" a German Shepherd/Lab mix has adjusted very well to his new home and life as a Diabetic Alert Dog for his 15-year old partner Ryan. "Boomer" and Ryan are together 24/7. Even though he takes his new job seriously there is still time after school for the much needed exercise and fun with the ball. Using the comprehensive training techniques and follow-up training program developed by the staff at APC, "Boomer" is consistently alerting to Ryan's low blood sugar. "Boomer" was tested and certified in June 2004 by All Purpose Canines.

"Boomer has been Ryan's alert dog since June 2004. It has been our experience that All Purpose Canines Inc. is an organization truly dedicated not only to the clients they serve, but to the dogs they train as well. Our experience with this organization has shown their true integrity and it is admirable. We would recommend their services without reservation."

The Board of Directors of All Purpose Canines Inc. greatly
appreciates the support of "Boomer's" family!
